Ever Imagined why is it now necessary for us to celebrate the World mental Health day all over the world? The answer is simple, the increasing mental diseases in people around us, depression, anxiety, and what not, results in this, in short the World Health Organization (WHO) came up with the solution in order to increase the awareness among the people about this serious issue across the world.
The recognition of the mental issues problem was done by World Health Organization (WHO) in 1992, and since then the day is being recognized as the World Mental Health day , every year it is celebrated on 10th of October, in order to increase the awareness among people regarding this serious issue across the world.
Every year this day is being celebrated with a special theme, and the theme for this year is “Make mental health & well-being for all a global priority.” Did you know that their is an increase in the no. of patients regarding the mental issues across the world after the Covid Pandemic, this is said by WHO. That clearly means the the increase in no. of mental health issues is due to Corona. This is quite obvious as the increase in the global pandemic has also resulted in more anxiety, depression and more mental health issues.
According to a survey conducted by WHO , more than 700 000 people commit suicides each year due to stress or depression. Significance of this day is to increase the awareness about such main and important issues to be discussed in the society which is still considered to be a taboo in the society. The day also creates opportunities for mental health care professionals to discuss their work and find ways to ensure mental health care reaches people worldwide.
No doubt their is always a positive feedback given by the patients who all suffer from this issue and once they are aware of these problems, it helps them to come out from it.
